Paddlesport Demos and Rentals XSL will have demos or rentals available on the first Saturday of every month through September. The demos are by appointment and take place at Cabrillo Beach on the inside beach. Most of the equipment we sell is available for demo to help you determine what best suits your needs. Rentals will also be available to help with building your kayak skills and endurance. Payment is required in advance and can be paid by phone or in person at Xstreamline. Introduction to Kayaking This class will take place the second Saturday of every month through September. It is taught with your choice of sit-on-top or sit-inside kayaks. This class is appropriate for people who are interested in kayaking but have little or no experience. This course will provide a good foundation of kayaking skills, knowledge, and safety considerations which will help you to progress to the next level. All equipment is provided. Payment is required at time of booking. Open Ocean Kayaking Are you ready for the next step? Review and fine tune previously learned techniques in the open ocean. Class includes entering and exiting the surf zone, multiple styles of rescue techniques, and advanced kayak handling skills. All this is taught while enjoying the spectacular coastal scenery of Pt. Fermin. Equipment provided. Payment is required at time of booking. Eskimo Roll Class The ultimate self rescue technique. Mastering a roll will enable you to safely kayak in a broader range of conditions. Advanced bracing, edge control and head positioning will improve your balance and minimize the occurrence of capsize. Taught indoors in a heated pool providing a more controlled learning environment and enabling a quicker progression of skills. Location: Pacific Wilderness pool facility (1719 Pacific Ave., San Pedro) Time: By appointment, evenings available** Cost: $99.00 one hour private lesson, or $149.00 for a 1-1/2 hr. class for two people |
Group Paddles Non-hosted social paddles. An opportunity to meet other paddlers in a casual setting. Sunday, June 8 Start time 8:00 am Cabrillo Beach (outside, surf launch) in front of the Bathhouse Open to any interested paddlers. All skill levels welcome. There will be 3 destinations all launching from Cabrillo: One group will go to Smuggler's Cove and back (the longest paddle) One group will go to Trump's golf course and back. One group will be led by Greg and go as far as White's Point and back. Chose your destination. Each group led by a seasoned, capable paddler. See you at the Beach! |
